Bowling For Soup New Orleans reviews
Not just watching a band but having an experience!
Patent Pending was very energetic jumping everywhere on stage and brought a lucky girl up for a stage dive. They also did some funny choreograph dancing and had a friend pop locking on stage while covering Cascada - Everytime We Touch.
The Dollyrots are just awesome and they even have a song about being awesome. Kelly is cute and funny but will also whoop your ass like jackie chan. Jaret from Bowling for Soup came onto their set and sang a little with them.
Bowling For Soup was very funny and engaged with the crowd, speaking as a whole or to individuals. Patent Pending took over their instruments in the middle of a song and finished it their way. Kelly also came on and sang the last chorus of 1985.
To top it off Jaret came into the crowd and all bands on stage for a dance party to finish "A Really Cool Dance Song"
I like the nightclub/pub/bar events because it's not a large loud stadium, and its not a small cramped basement. So the sound was great and you could hear the music and lyrics great. Plus everyone gets to be in the action up close, move around, not being fixed to a seat.
It was very entertaining the bands interacting with each other. They are the best of friends touring together. And they treat the fans like their your friends. Patent Pending and The Dollyrots hung out at the merch table to give hugs, smiles, and talk about random stuff. They aren't just a band to watch and listen to, they are your friends.
Expected More Music ... and Less Depravity
After the third song, they claimed that would be the last time we would hear three in a row, as they were too out of shape and would need time to rest. Well, that rest turned out to be long-winded, absolutely filthy banter that completely brought down any musical momentum the show could have established. Being there with my children ... since it was advertised as an all ages show ... I would have hoped the band would have taken this into account and not included all the talk about deviant behavior. I'm no prude, but this crossed WELL over the line. Overall, it was a drunk, sloppy performance.
